I got the SPO email for the week, and I'm on it! ME! My goodness! My name in print, my face on the website! It's really meeeee!
www.seattlepokeropen.com
I can't believe it. I really can't. I'm so happy and blessed and excited and bouncy! Yes, bouncy. I bounced around my house, I bounced up and down in the computer chair, I more or less just bounced everywhere! I bounced to the kitchen to have some celebratory Ben and Jerry's, and that was amazing.
Tomorrow is the winter championship, and I'm getting pumped. I'm getting that sort of eerie calm that I usually only associate with going onto the soccer pitch before a game. I've just got to remember to focus. Intimidate. Kick some ass.
I feel relaxed, too. I mean, I'm ansty and anxious and I want to win. But, I also know that at the end of the day, I have accomplished more than I ever have with poker ever before. I have improved my skills by a ridiculous amount. I can't believe that I've been able to grow as a poker player in such a short amount of time. I still have a ton of learning to do, because as they say, "Poker is quick and easy to learn, but takes a lifetime to master." So, it's a good thing I'm only 22! :)
I think tonight I'm going to relax. I'm going to give my mind a break from all the homework and poker studying it's been doing. Maybe I'll read Calvin and Hobbes before bed. Or, I'll make some tea and watch The Office. All I know is that I need a break, and that I've definitely earned it.
The Official Excerpt from the SPO Weekly Email
Katie Peterson wins Week 12
Katie Peterson overcame many obstacles, including a massive point deficit, to win the final week of the Winter season!
She started the week off online in our last Online Freeroll game on Sunday. Unfortunately things didn't go so well, and she busted early earning only 2 points that night.
Her next night was in the Ring Game on Tuesday night, probably the most volatile of our divisions. Traditionally the Ring game sees lots of action in the final weeks of the season, with players "going for broke," dumping tremendous amounts of chips/points onto the table is a last ditch effort to qualify for the Championship. Katie knew this was the case, and saw it as an opportunity to reap the rewards of others misfortunes. When the night was said and done, she profited a total of 198 points for the night, reaching her goal of qualifying for the Championship from the Ring Game division.
Next up was her other goal... winning the Week. That would happen in our Wednesday night event, the last event of the season... the Bounty tournament. Katie has started documenting her trials and tribulations in the SPO on a blog, and you can read a more in-depth recap of that event in the article below.
But spoilers be damned, she did indeed make the points enough to pass her competition, and came out in the top spot on the Weekly Points Leaderboard. Congrats Katie!
