Kick some ass, yo.

This week's Bounty night actually went well. Better than the first, at least!

I brought my homework and laptop because I figured I would be busting somewhat early, and I would need something to do waiting for Chad and everybody to finish. But, I didn't get a chance to do any homework because I was too busy knocking people out of the tournament.

Which for me, is a big deal. I generally don't take the chance of knocking anyone out, lest I lose all my chips or get a huge chip deficit.

The starting table was a good, balanced table. Unfortunately, I wasn't catching a lot of cards. When Kirk came over to play at our table to fill in a spot, I told him to prep my re-buy. But, when I re-bought, I ended up doing extremely well.

First, the big thing for this week, was that I knocked out Brooke Radding, the featured player of the week. Which was sort of a big deal. When he got up, he touched my shoulder and said "I'm rooting for you." Which felt pretty awesome. The hand I knocked him out with? Pocket kings!

Before I get any further into the night, let me just say this: JACKS SUCK. Whenever I had them I raised and pushed, and the jacks lost EVERY SINGLE TIME. So, I am no longer taking advice on how to play them.

Dennis was on my left, and unfortunately I knocked him out with Queen/Ten of spades. He had Ace/3, and I won with a flush. Dennis is a player I admire and like to play at a table with, and I was bummed but also excited that I knocked him out.

After awhile, Kirk broke our table down due to short-handedness, and I was sent to table 2.

I was gaining a decent chip stack, and players were busting left and right. Which is great, the longer I stay in, the more points I get for placing higher. I was the only one left in the tourny from my carpool, and I felt bad because they were extremely bored waiting for me.

Then, I got involved in a hand with both Kirk and Neal, two really good players. They had both gone all in, and I had a pretty rocking pocket pair of aces. When we flipped our cards, Neal had Ace/King and Kirk had Ace/Queen. Pocket Aces prevailed!!!! So it was adios Kirk and Neal.

My next victim would be Brandon. He plays in the trivia league, and he's a nice guy to have at the table. He was extremely short stacked, and when he moved all-in, I had Ace/Jack. I said "I'll double you up," thinking that he had a pocket pair that would be ahead of my Ace high.
It turns out I was right. Brandon had pocket 6s, a good hand when you're low on chips like he was. A pair of threes came out on the board, and a jack. Thinking he had won with two pair, I said "Nice!" Then everyone pointed out that I had a jack and that I actually won. Which was weird. But nice!

I always feel really bad about knocking players out. I know how it feels to be knocked out, and it's never a great feeling. Everybody keeps telling me to quit apologizing, but I am genuinely sorry to do it.

At this point, the final table was announced.

And now I have to go to work, so I'll finish up about the final table later tonight! Promise!
